CORVALLIS - A 1998 Crescent Valley High School graduate will serve as editor for Oregon State University's Prism Magazine for the 1998-99 academic year.

Kara Sutton-Jones, who will enter OSU as a freshman in English this fall, will direct operations of OSU's student-run magazine, which features student writing and art, including photography, drawings, poetry and short stories.

Sutton-Jones has had extensive experience working with Crescent Valley High School's literary magazine, "Variations," working for three years as a reviewer, typist and contributor.

"At Crescent Valley I was on the editorial board and I also was a writer and cartoonist," Sutton-Jones said.

She plans to attend OSU for two years and then transfer to the University of Oregon and major in journalism.

"I love poetry, I love to write, but I want to stay with journalism" while pursuing fiction writing in her spare time, Sutton-Jones said.

"Journalism seems like the most practical field for a writer, but I have hopes to one day become an author."
