OSU horticulture students earn honors

CORVALLIS - Oregon State University Department of Horticulture students have earned nearly 50 awards and more than $40,000 in scholarships.

Scholarships are for the 1997-98 academic year, which begins Sept. 29.

Honorees include: IN OREGON
ALBANY:

Ryan Wyckoff, senior in turf and landscape management, $1,500 Northwest Turfgrass Association Scholarship. ALOHA:

Glenn Armstrong, senior in horticultural science, $1,000 General Dillingham Produce Industry Scholarship honoring a student intending to enter the fresh fruit or vegetable industry. BANKS:

Sarah Blatchford, sophomore in horticultural science, $1,000 Rolland A. Beglau Memorial Scholarship for a student with enthusiasm for production of vegetable and fruit crops. The award was established in 1978 in honor of Beglau, who earned his bachelor's degree in horticulture from OSU and worked in horticulture and the food processing industry. HOOD RIVER: Paul Aubert, sophomore in horticultural science, $2,500 Oregon Horticultural Society Scholarship. JUNCTION CITY: Justin Henderson, senior in horticultural science, $1,000 General Dillingham Produce Industry Scholarship honoring a student intending to enter the fresh fruit or vegetable industry.
