Yellow-poplar (Liriodendron)

The hyphen in this name tells us that it isn't a true poplar. It is not native to Oregon, and is currently not fully described on this website.

 

  • Leaves: Large, squarish edged leaves with four lobes. Simple, alternate, and deciduous.
  • Flowers: Tulip-shaped; greenish yellow with bright orange flares. Numerous yellow stamens.
  • Fruit: Distinctive cone-like fruits containing seeds with one long wing.
  • Twigs: Duckbill-shaped buds.
