Graphic Design for Science Publishing and Presentations
Description
This workshop will teach principles of good graphic design for science, based on the work of Edward Tufte, along with accessible graphics techniques for color deficient viewers. Topics to be covered include:
- Journal, slides or poster? Graphic design with your product in mind. We'll discuss fonts, line weights, resolution versus size, better labeling, dimensionality, and other graphical concepts.
- Designing for color-deficient viewers
- Cartography and color
- Don'ts of PowerPoint
- Better Poster Design
- Troubleshooting your own graphics: bring a graph, map, set of slides, figure, poster, or other graphic for us to look at, and give suggestions for improvement.
