Conversational Skills (Session 2: April 16 and 17)


The two-day program is designed to alter and shape the way people relate to one another and work together. The course addresses important, practical dimensions of listening and speaking, commitment and follow-through, integrity and context. It equips individuals and work groups to:

  • Establish and maintain relationships based on integrity and trust,
  • Make and keep commitments, 
  • Listen and really hear one another,
  • Respect diverse perspectives, and
  • Design and manage effective meetings.

The course is especially well-suited to groups of participants from the same workplace; you may want to enroll as a team.

Additional Information
Paul Axtell is a trainer and consultant who works with corporations and universities. Axtell has trained more than 3,200 faculty, staff, students and friends of the University who enrolled in similar workshops offered through the "InterACTION!" project, funded by the Kellogg Foundation in the late 1990s. The program is currently sustained through funding from the Office of the Provost, providing campus with an opportunity annually (usually Spring Term) to experience Conversational Skills and follow-up programs.
