I enjoyed reading your post, Amy. We certainly share a common interest in regard to cute, furry creatures. My personal favorite is the sea otter. - I noticed you mentioned the population of Stellers is experiencing a decline, do you have information about the California sea lion population? I live in the San Juan Islands, and just from simple observation, it appears the California sea lions are doing quite well. Which is encouraging with respect to fish populations, because one would conclude they must have plenty to eat in order to thrive as they are now. - I look forward to your upcoming posts.

Nice post, Amy. The combination of personal connection with researcher profile with the information is great. And this emphasizes the rhetorical appeal to emotions that the megafauna provide - hence their popularity. It is a bit of speciesism, but inevitable, I think. After all, most people will escort a lady bug out of the house but squash a spider in the sink. Nice to see how your work progresses. I'll keep watching for your byline.
