My laboratory is fairly unique. We have no technicians. We do everything. From fabrication of specimens and support set up, hydraulics, control, instrumentation, to conducting the tests, reducing the data, writing the reports. It’s all student driven. And it goes from the very top to the very bottom of all of those things. So it’s a very hand–on type of experience. Very different from the way a lot of other laboratories work, particularly with the size and scope of the experiments we’re doing. So it’s a lot of responsibility for the students. And they know it from the top to the bottom.
