OSU's first Green Career Day held Thursday, April 21

A recent study reported that 92% of students would prefer to work for an environmentally friendly organization.  OSU's first annual Green Career Day was held on Thursday, April 21 in the MU Ballroom.

Green Career Day

11:00am - 3:30pm at Memorial Union Ballroom

Sponsored by GLUMAC and PECI

Gain visibility and get to know OSU students and the Corvallis campus "up close and personal" by attending the first ever spring 2011 Green Career Day taking place during Earth Week. OSU has an excellent reputation for providing a quality education and taking the lead in sustainability initiatives. Participation in the OSU Green Career Day will provide opportunities for you to connect with some of the brightest and best students in Oregon. Open to all OSU students and alumni.

Our vision is to have a similar set up to a career fair with tables representing various aspects of sustainable/green careers, i.e. agri-businesses, clean technology, wildlife/fisheries, community organizations, fair trade, sustainability based non-profits, government agencies, environmental law firms, sustainability focused graduate programs, etc. We do not see this event exclusively as a job fair but more of an opportunity to network with and educate the student population about green/sustainability related career options.

The event will simultaneously hold a round table consisting of professionals working in green jobs (Q&A session) and a workshop focusing on how to obtain green jobs (resume specifics, background required, etc.). The latter will be hosted by an employer and the structure will depend on the employer.
