The OSU Solar Vehicle Team is a group of OSU students, staff, and faculty working together to design, build, and race solar-powered vehicles. The organization is dedicated to providing hands-on experience with solar-electric vehicles, interdisciplinary learning in engineering and business, and education and outreach in sustainability by direct interactions with the community and industry.
The Phoenix (OSU’s solar vehicle) competed in the American Solar Car challenge, traveling through all 8 states that border the Great Lakes in 8 days. The team was awarded the “Spirit of the Rayce” award for their sportsmanship, cooperation, and unquestioned assistance to other teams. OSU’s Hai-Yue Han received the only individual award, the “Individual Spirit of the Rayce” for his relentless effort and assistance to everyone involved in the ASC challenge. Congratulations team!

Would you like to learn more about Solar, Electric and Hybrid Vehicles? Great News! OSU is currently offering an Electric and Hybrid Vehicles (ECE 438) course this fall. It has been the most popular course for ECE majors in years past and is usually offered in the spring. There are only 10 students registered for the course offered this fall and it has a capacity of 55 so there is plenty of room. The only prerequisites for this course are ENGR 202 and ENGR 212. Hope to see you this fall.
