Project 5 - Quantitative Methods for Nanomaterials
Objective
We will develop state-of-the-art, bench-scale and microfluidic methods for quantifying fullerenes and CNTs in environmental matrices, develop means to quantify fullerenes and CNTs in solid samples including sediments, industrial and municipal sludges, landfill solids, and biota, and develop means to quantify fullerenes and CNTs in aqueous environmental samples including municipal wastewater, surface water, and drinking water.
Activities
- Establish methods to quantify C60 and higher order fullerenes using HPLC/MS-MS
- Develop and evaluate techniques to extract fullerenes from solid environmental matrices
- Use our methods to quantify fullerenes in solid environmental samples
- Develop and evaluate techniques to extract fullerenes from aqueous environmental matrices
- Use our methods to quantify fullerenes in aqueous environmental samples
