Environmental Health Research Experience Program (EH REP) at the University of Washington Seattle
The Environmental Health Research Experience Program is a funded nine week, summer experience for undergraduates with interest in an interdisciplinary field that uses the tools of science to solve human health problems related to the environment. EHREP provides students with hands on experience in laboratories of leading researchers, introduces them to key environmental and occupational health issues while offering research exposure that will help them become competitive for graduate school. Students will work full-time under the supervision of a faculty mentor and will receive a stipend of $5,200.
Students underrepresented in the sciences are strongly encouraged to apply. The deadline for student applications is February 15, 2012.

Environmental and occupational health is the study of human health in the environment. The field concerns itself with maintaining a safe supply of food and drinking water; discovering the mechanisms of environmentally related diseases; treating and disposing of solid and toxic wastes; reducing air, water, food, and noise pollution; and controlling workplace hazards.

Association for Psychological Science (APS) – Student grant program
APS provides two awards ($100 each) to undergraduates students interested in topics related to psychology. Students must submit a research proposal as outlined on the APS website.
NIH Supplements for Summer Undergraduate Research
NIH is now providing supplemental funding to institutions with active NIH grants to be used for the purpose of hiring undergraduate researchers to assist with faculty projects over the summer term.
Department of Homeland Security (DOE) – Scholarships
The DHS provides a two year scholarship to students interested in homeland security science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Students receive $1000/month for nine months during the academic year and $5000 over the summer. Students will complete a 10 week summer internship and are required to work fulltime for one year at a DHS-approved venue.
Department of Homeland Security STEM Summer Research Internships
Deadline: January 5. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sponsors a 10-week summer internship program for eligible rising junior and seniors majoring in homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (HS-STEM) disciplines. The DHS HS-STEM Summer Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to conduct research in DHS mission-relevant research areas at federal research facilities. The goal of this program is to engage a diverse, educated, and skilled pool of scientists and engineers in HS-STEM issues and to promote long-term relationships between student researchers, the DHS Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, and federal research facilities to enhance the HS-STEM workforce.
University of Maryland BSOS Summer Research Initiative
Deadline: TBA. The program has a special emphasis on population groups underrepresented in the behavioral, social and economic science fields (i.e., African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders).
