Organizing a Food Event

Students love free food, and events love attendees! This is what makes food events so popular. However, a great deal of work goes into creating a successful food event. You need to decide on a menu, identify and modify recipes to create a shopping list, reserve a kitchen with the tools to execute your large order, and finally, gather volunteers for cooking, preperation, serving, and cleanup! It's a lot of work, but it's worth it when you have 500 or more students coming to attend your event!

The Cultural Meal Support Program is here to help you in your planning. We have trained consultants who can walk you through the process, staff to help serve, prepare and cleanup, a kitchen for cooking, and a van to transport the food.

Rental Fees

Kitchen rental fees are broken down as follows:

Student Organization

$300.00 per day of event (12 hours of use, supervised by one staff person)

$ 30.00 per hour full use

$ 18.00 per hour limited use

University Department

$400.00 per day of event (12 hours of use, supervised by one staff person)

$ 45.00 per hour full use

$ 30.00 per hour limited use

Community

$500.00 per day of event(12hours of use, supervised by one staff person)

$ 65.00 per hour full use

$ 50.00 per hour limited use

Van Rental Fee: $20.00 for transportation of produced food products form the MU East Kitchen to the service venue

Equipment Rental Fee structure:

Gas Grill: $50.00 + transportation fee

5 gal beverage servers: $ 5.00

Container Holding Cart: $25.00 + transportation fee

Chafing Dish: $ 5.00

Hotel Pan: $2.00

Utensils (various): $1.00

Sterno: $1.00 per can

Hand Washing Station: $5.00

Sno Cone Machine W/ice: $30.00
