The Student Organization Event Support program in the Center for Student Involvement encourages and supports the planning and hosting of events by student organizations and OSU Cultural Centers. Student organization sponsored events provide unparalleled opportunities for experiential learning outside the classroom. Over 500 events sponsored by student organizations are held annually on the OSU campus – including movies, speakers, information booths, cultural evenings, week and month-long celebrations, recreation and sports tournaments, philanthropy, community service and social activities.

One of the most important aspects an organization's activities/events is the planning process. Adequate planning can play a major role in the success of your event. Student Involvement provides resources that will be helpful in planning events, ranging from group meetings to campus or community-wide activities.

Student organizations are expected to plan activities, operations, and services that are offered within the boundaries established by the Oregon Administrative Rules; operating guidelines established by Student Involvement; organization governing documents; and other campus entities with which the organization may be associated. Due to the complexity of many organizational activities, it is always in the best interest of the student leadership to focus on issues of personal safety, financial security, facility restrictions and public image. The Student Organization Event Support Team is committed to assisting all student organizations in planning activities that promote organizational development, advance the mission of the organization, enhance the educational mission of the University, and are safe.

Some student organizations have been around for many years. They may have established annual programs or events. Transition of this event information for event planning purposes helps to improve these activities, however it is important that all organizations engage with the Student Organization Event Support Team in order to assure University regulations are met and an Event Registration form is on file for every open event.
