Mutual Help Group - Mental Health Resources

  • Active Minds on Campus: a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy organization. The group’s mission is to utilize peer outreach to increase student awareness of mental health issue; provide information and resources; encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed; and serve as liaison between students and the mental health community.
  • Depressed Teens
  • Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA): “the nation’s leading patient-directed organization focusing on the most prevalent mental illnesses – depression and bipolar disorder.” Confidential, on-line screening for depression, bipolar and anxiety and listings for nationwide screening sites.
  • Jed Foundation: established in order to prevent suicide on college campuses and focus on the underlying causes of suicide.
  • Lavoz nacional de salud mental, es una organización comunitaria de auto-ayuda, apoyo y defensa de las personas que tienen enfermedades mentales severas, sus familiares y amigos. NAMI está compuesta por 220.000 miembros y más de 1.200 grupos locales y estatales en los Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico.
  • National Institute of Mental Health

    Many downloadable publications(some in Spanish) on depression, bipolar disorder and suicide prevention. Included are overviews, personal stories, depression for college students, and many more.

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

    Provides immediate assistance to individuals in suicidal crisis by connecting them to the nearest available suicide prevention and mental health service provider through a toll-free telephone number: 1-800-273-TALK (8255). It is the only national suicide prevention and intervention telephone resource funded by the Federal Government.

  • Psycheducation.org:Corvallis Psychiatrist Dr. Jim Phelps –provides extensive mental health information on specific topics and answers your email questions.
  • Rita Project: Global movement to stop suicide & celebrate life; use arts for mental health.
  • Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN): suicide prevention organization dedicated to leveraging grassroots support among suicide survivors (those who have lost a loved one to suicide) and others to advance public policies that help prevent suicide.
  • Ulifeline: an online behavioral support for young adults.
