Statement of Wonderfulness
In Celebration of
University Housing & Dining
Anchor, support, resource, flexible, goes with the flow, “dad” figure, “happy lamp” & phenomenal are just a few of the words used to describe this “unsung hero” who “makes things happen” in the Office of University Housing and Dining Services!
As Assistant Director of Residential Education, Dave is responsible for the operations within the Residential Education Unit including supervision of Area Complex Directors and indirect supervision for RDs and Student Staff. He not only oversees the staff training and selection process and assists with budget management, but he also coordinates communications and serves as a key player in program development and implementation for the Residence Halls. And there’s more! Dave has served on the UHDS Diversity Initiative, the University Academic Advising Council, the Academic Reinstatement Committee, liason to EOP, UHDS Customer Service-Pride Initiative, UHDS-INTO Implementation Team, Learning Community Initiatives, UHDS Facility Operations liaison, UHDS Department Operations Team and has served as Adjunct Faculty in the CSSA program. Wow, amazing!
He is a great “advocate” for his department while also looking at “bigger picture” needs for others he works with outside of his department. He was described as a “Committed Beaver” who gives whole-heartedly to the OSU community. One friend stated, “Dave respects everyone he works with and loves to see those that he works with succeed. He is genuine and caring.” Another colleague stated that Dave “looks deeper in me as a person” and detailed how Dave supported him in seeking work-life balance. His co-workers spoke with high regards for Dave and highlighted his “deep perception of people” and his keen ability of knowing how to “meet people where they’re at.”
You are truly cared for and respected Dave. Congratulations on this honor and thanks for being a model colleague and friend.
