A panel of four will discuss the spoken and unspoken messages they received about what it meant to grow up as a female in their individual families, communities and cultures. The featured OSU community panelists, their departments and hometowns are Mirabelle Fernandes-Paul (Women’s Advancement & Gender Equity), Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India; Betu Herrera (Music Department), Sacramento, California; Beth Rietveld (Women’s Development), Chicago Heights, Illinois; and Susan Shaw (Women’s Studies), Rome, Georgia. Building Community through Diversity: an Introduction to the NCBI Model. Memorial Union 206, 9:00-noon. This 3-hour presentation is specifically designed to introduce participants to the theory and philosophy behind the National Coalition Building Institute community building model. Interactive exercises and plenty of time for questions and answers will be built into the day. Everyone is welcome!
