Opportunity: Youth Gardening

Producing for the Future: A Collaboration Between Low-Income Youth, Congregations, and Researchers
APPLY BY JANUARY 15th , 2011

Hello young folks between 17 and 22!!

There is still time to join an exciting new organic gardening research project, "Producing for the Future," within the OSU Dept. of Human Development and Family Sciences.

As a participant in the project you'll learn about organic gardening, micro-enterprise, community-building, research and much more while earning a $1200 RESEARCH INCENTIVE!

We have expanded the parameters to include youth ages 17-22, and we've raised the income requirements to make it possible for more people to participate. Participants will plan and develop two new gardens, one in Sweet Home and one in Corvallis (you choose which one!). The application deadline is January 15th so please APPLY NOW!

This program requires a 1-2 year commitment and will involve one meeting per month for education and research activities, plus approximately 10-12 hours per week during the summer working in the garden and selling produce. Spots are limited! For more information, please contact Leslie Richards from Oregon State University toll-free at (888)478-3011 or (541) 737-1071 orleslie.richards@oregonstate.edu.
