Emily Bowling is the Civic Engagement & Service Coordinator within Student Leadership & Involvement at OSU and serves as ex officio, non-voting member of the SSI Fee Board. Emily will be providing support to SSI around strategic planning, assessment, and the community service and civic engagement elements of the SSI program. Emily has worked professionally in higher education and Student Affairs for over seven years in the areas of service-learning, civic engagement, residence life, first year programs, and learning communities. Her masters work at Portland State University was in Educational Leadership and Policy with a specialization in Leadership for Sustainability Education. Emily’s professional interests are sustainability and sustainability education, civic engagement, community-based learning, experiential education, and transformative learning. Emily enjoys helping students to realize their leadership potential in working toward a more just, humane, and sustainable world. Striving to motivate students around issues of social and environmental justice is both hugely rewarding for Emily and one of her primary professional passions. In her spare time, Emily enjoys hiking, cycling, seeing live music, and cooking.
