The following services are available in the area of Academics...

  • OSU Home Page - The main website for OSU, with links to many campus resources
  • WritingQ - WritingQ is a writing "hotline" designed to answer brief questions concerning grammar, documentation, and style. In most cases, you will receive an answer within 24 hours. Please address your writing questions to :WritingQ@mail.orst.edu.
  • Center for Writing and Learning - The Center for Writing and Learning (CWL) offers a number of student services, including the Writing Center, Conversant Program, and Academic Success. Visit the CWL website to find writing handouts and other valuable writing and learning web resources.

  • Educational Opportunities Program - The EOP has been in existence at OSU since 1969. We provide support for students of color, older than average students, students with disabilities, single parents, low-income students, and students who have been rurally isolated.
    We provide the following services:
    • help through the admissions process
    • orientation for all new students
    • academic, personal and financial aid advising
    • courses to help review or fill in gaps in math, reading and writing
    • free tutoring provided by upper division and graduate students
    • help with finding jobs, writing resumes and cover letters, and getting interships.

  • Indian Education Office - is a part of the Intercultural Student Services. The mission of the Indian Education Office is to assist American Indian and Alaska Native students as they strive to achieve academic success. This flows from the university's mission statement which states that it "is committed to providing access and educational opportunities to minorities and to challenged and disadvantaged persons."

  • Library - Be sure to visit the Valley Library, either in person, or virtually via the Web. The Valley Library contains over 1 million resources to support your studies. Comfortable chairs, wonderful views from the upper floors, and even a coffee shop are available for your pleasure. Staff are eager to assist you with your library needs. And if it's raining and you don't want to leave home, The Valley Library has many electronic resources which can be accessed from your computer.

  • Student Conduct and Community Standards - Information about academic dishonesty policies and standards.

  • OSU Math Learning Center - The OSU Math Learning center is in Kidder 108. The MLC offers Free help with math questions on a walk-in basis. A non-circulating library of older (but current) mathematics texts and books. An open study area. A computer lab of SUN workstations, open to all OSU students enrolled in a math class. The lab is sometimes reserved for specific classes. A schedule is posted outside the door. Out-of-class quizzes and tests for OSU math classes.
  • Study Abroad - For many students, studying abroad can be a life-changing experience. Every term students from a wide variety of disciplines earn OSU credit while pursuing their studies overseas and report that their time abroad was the most meaningful part of their education.

  • International Degree Program - OSU's innovative International Degree program is designed to prepare students in all disciplines for our increasingly integrated world. Students earn two bachelor's degrees: one in their primary major on campus, and a second in international studies in the same field.

  • Global Graduates - International Internships - Global Graduates enables OSU juniors, seniors and Master's level students from all fields of study to integrate an international internship experience into their degree program. Students earn academic credit for the internship and placements are available in a wide range of countries.

  • Conversant Program - English Language Institute - Conversants are students who meet for one hour a week with an international student here at OSU to practice and learn English. Students find this an excellent way to meet new friends, learn about a different culture, gain valuable intercultural skills and introduce an international student to U.S. American culture.
