Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April 2007

A group of students, faculty and community members have been working on planning programming in April for sexual assault awareness month. Sexual Assault Awareness Week will take place April 16th-20th and will include several presentations, discussions, a march, and many other fun and empowering events.

Monday, April 16:

Role of Sexual Assault and Alcohol on a College Campus
Time: 6:00 pm
Carrie Giese and Eric Alexander present an overview of sexual assault and what it really is on OSU's campus.

Tuesday, April 17:

It Starts Here: A male-to-male discussion on how to end sexual violence
Location: Reser Clubhouse
Time: 6:00 pm
An all-male discussion on how men are affected by sexual assault and what they can do to help end the violence.

Wednesday, April 18:

Soup and Substance with Kathy Greaves
Location: International Forum/Club Escape
Time: 12:00
Kathy Greaves discusses the myths surrounding relationship violence and stranger assault. Lunch provided.

Take Back the Night
MU Steps
Time: 7:00
Rally, march and candlelight vigil from the MU Steps to the Courthouse to reclaim the night as a safe space for women everywhere.

Thursday, April 19:

Poetry Jam
Sahalie Wine Cellar
Time: 7:00
An open-mic night of artistic expression to speak out against sexual assault.

Friday, April 20:

Closing Discussion
Location: Women's Center
Time: 3:00 All Week:

Clothesline Project
MU Quad
Come decorate a shirt to speak out against sexual assault, which will be displayed in the quad all week.Wall of Support (CARDV Fundraiser)
MU Quad Come support the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence by purchasing a piece of the wall to memorialize survivors and speak out against sexual violence.
