As a professor I have mostly focused on teaching and research. But being a department chair helped me understand how university policies can promote or hinder the accomplishment of our dual teaching/research mission. Although still relatively ignorant about much of the faculty senate’s work, I care about the environment we create here, and I enjoy working with others to find win-win solutions to problems and better ways to do things. If elected, I would work with the other EC members to make decisions that serve the greater good of the university as a whole rather than any particular unit.
