The agenda for the December Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below.
- ELECTION RESULTS
President Jack Higginbotham will announce the results of the President-Elect and Interinstitutional Faculty Senate elections.
- ACTION ITEMS
- Executive Committee Election
See attached biographical sketches for the Executive Committee candidates.
Voting will take place during the meeting by Senators, proxies, and ex-officio members only. Three people will be elected for two-year
terms beginning January 2012. Continuing EC members and their apportionment units are: Kevin Gable, Science; Anne Gillies,
Associated Faculty; and Mario Magaña, Engineering.
- Category I Proposals
Richard Nafshun, Curriculum Council member, will present for approval the following Category I proposals:
- SPECIAL REPORT
- Athletic Budget
Mark Spencer, Senior Associate Athletic Director – Finance & Business Affairs, will clarify aspects of the Athletic budget that were
included in the Provost’s November 10 Faculty Senate budget presentation.
- FACULTY SENATE MATTERS ARISING
Please bring three items that you would like the Faculty Senate to tackle next year.

- New Senator Orientation
The New Senator Orientation will be held January 12. If you are a continuing Senator, but were not able to attend the orientation when
you were elected, please contact Vickie Nunnemaker (vickie.nunnemaker@oregonstate.edu) if you would like to attend the upcoming session.
- 2012 Faculty Senate Meetings
Please reserve the following dates for Faculty Senate meetings for the remainder of the academic year; check your monthly agenda to determine
the location. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM:
- January 12, February 9, March 8, April 12, May 10 and June 7.
- Category I Approval
The campus community should take appropriate action to update their records to reflect approval of the following OSU Category I
proposal by the Provost on October 14, 2011.
- College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS). This new name represents the merger of two units, the Department of
Geosciences in the College of Science (Geo) and the College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS). CEOAS will focus on the basic
sciences of the Earth system, and the new name captures both the existing strengths of Geosciences and COAS and opens the door
for new programs in research and education regarding our home planet.
