FACULTY SENATE AGENDA

The agenda for the April Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below.

  1. SPECIAL REPORTS
    1. Women’s Advancement and Gender Equity (WAGE)
      Donna Champeau, WAGE Director, will outline the role and activities of the WAGE office.
    2. Integrated Marketing Communications
      Luanne Lawrence, University Advancement, will outline the Powered by Orange marketing campaign. Please review the following websites: Integrated Marketing Communications and the Powered by Orange.

  2. INTERINSTITUTIONAL FACULTY SENATE REPORT
    1. Joanne Sorte, OSU Interinstitutional Faculty Senate Senior Senator, will present a brief recap of the April IFS meeting.

  3. COMMITTEE REPORT
    1. Proposed Revisions to the Promotion and Tenure College Review and Recommendation
      Jim Liburdy, Promotion and Tenure Committee Chair, will present for discussion revisions to the College Review and Recommendation section of the Promotion and Tenure Guidelines.

  4. DISCUSSION ITEM
    1. Budget and Tuition Update Based on Legislative Actions
      Jock Mills, Government Relations Director, and Mark McCambridge, Vice President for Finance and Administration, will discuss budget issues and current direction of the legislature. As additional materials become available they will be linked from the agenda.


  5. INFORMATION ITEMS
    1. Faculty Sessions with President Ray
      Faculty are invited to register to participate in small group sessions with President Ray on April 20 from 3-4 PM, May 12 from10-11 AM and May 26 from 2-3 PM. Each conversation will be facilitated by a Faculty Senate Executive Committee member and will consist of up to 20 faculty. This is an opportunity for the President to hear what faculty are thinking and experiencing, especially as we deal with the current economic downturn.
    2. Budget Comments Form
      Faculty are invited to send their ideas, comments or concerns to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee about the current economic situation via an anonymous comment form. Comments will be reviewed and presented to OSU leadership.
    3. Baccalaureate Core Comments Form
      The Baccalaureate Core Ad Hoc Review Committee has been charged by the Executive Committee of the OSU Faculty Senate to review the Bacc Core and to recommend updates for the purpose of enhancing undergraduate education at OSU. As a committee of students and faculty, we welcome your views about the structure and implementation of the Bacc Core. Your suggestions or comments about the review process can also be helpful. You may submit your input via the online comments form.
    4. Faculty Senate Special Sessions
      Two special sessions of the Faculty Senate are scheduled on the below dates to discuss the budget situation; locations have not yet been confirmed. If Senators are not available to attend, please arrange for a proxy.
      • April 30 – 3-5 PM
      • June 2 – 3-5 PM
    5. Committee Interest Form
      Faculty are encouraged to electronically complete the Committee Interest Form to indicate a preference for serving on University and Faculty Senate committees and councils. When possible, Faculty Senate committee/council members are selected from those who respond to the Committee Interest Form. Please consider volunteering for committees; faculty may select three university committees and three Faculty Senate Committees. Standing Rules for each Faculty Senate committee/council are available for viewing online. Please contact the Faculty Senate Office if you have difficulty accessing the form.
    6. Strategic Plan - Phase II
      Phase II of the Strategic Plan has been finalized and can be viewed online.
    7. Category I Approvals
      The campus community should take appropriate action to update their records to reflect the following changes approved by the Faculty Senate on March 12 and Provost Randhawa:
      • Suspension of the MS degrees in: Environmental Health and Occupational Safe Management, Public Health, and Health Promotion and Health Behavior
      • Program Area Name Change within OSU Extension
  6. REPORT FROM AND DIALOG WITH THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT
