The agenda for the March Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below.

1. ACTION ITEM

   1. Approval of Minutes

      Approval of the January and February 2007 Faculty Senate minutes.

2. SPECIAL REPORTS

   1. Faculty Forum Recap
      

      Larry Curtis will report on the February 27 Faculty Forum regarding potential changes to ORP and TDI plans.

   2. Promotion and Tenure Process Review
      

      This presentation involves a report on a study of faculty members' experiences with OSU's Promotion and Tenure system and draft process improvement recommendations for faculty senate discussion and input. Related materials include the review project methodology and results and recommendations. The presenters will include Barb Edwards, Juan Trujillo, Anne Gillies and Angelo Gomez

3. DISCUSSION ITEM

   1. Raising Admission Standards

      Kate Peterson, Assistant Provost for Enrollment Management, will discuss the implications of raising the minimum high school GPA expected for admission to OSU.

4. INFORMATION ITEMS

   1. Graduate Education Presentation

      The Graduate School is hosting a presentation by Dr. Debra Stewart, President, Council of Graduate Schools, on Graduate Education and the US Competitiveness Agenda on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the MU Leadership Center Journey Room. The session is free and open to all.

   2. Category I Approval

      The B.S. in Accountancy, approved by the Faculty Senate in January, received approval during the March 2 Oregon State Board of Higher Education meeting; the effective date is spring 2007.

   3. Baccalaureate Core Committee Membership

      As indicated during the February Faculty Senate meeting, additional members have been added to participate in the review of the Baccalaureate Core. The membership can be viewed online.

   4. University Faculty Award Nominations

      Nominations will be accepted until April 10 for the faculty awards listed below. The criteria and nomination form for each award is linked to the Individual Awards page on the web.
      

      OSU has a highly qualified faculty and few opportunities to recognize their contributions - we depend on you to facilitate nominations for these awards.
