FACULTY SENATE AGENDA

The agenda for the December Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below.

  1. ELECTION RESULTS
      President Bill Boggess will announce the results of the President-Elect and Interinstitutional Faculty Senate election.

  2. ACTION ITEMS
    1. Executive Committee Election
      See attached biographical sketches for the Executive Committee candidates. Voting will take place during the meeting by Senators, proxies, and ex-officio members only. Three people will be elected for two-year terms beginning January 2007. Continuing EC members and their apportionment units are: Moira Dempsey, Associated Faculty; Lani Roberts, Liberal Arts; and Terryl Ross, Associated Faculty.
    2. Faculty Panels for Hearing Committee Election
      The Board's Administrative Rules define criteria and procedures for the imposition of sanctions for cause, including termination of appointment (OAR 580-21-320 through 580-21-375). If such a sanction is to be imposed, the faculty member is entitled to a formal hearing of charges by a hearing committee to be selected from a faculty panel that has been duly established. Nominees for each new panel are randomly selected. Faculty Panels for Hearing Committees are elected on even numbered years.

      Ballots will be distributed at the meeting; balloting for ten primary members will be limited to Senators or their official representatives.
    3. Academic Regulations 17 Proposed Revisions
      Jo Tynon, Academic Regulations Committee Chair, will present for approval proposed revisions to AR 17.

  3. SPECIAL REPORTS
    1. Scholarly Archives
      OSU Libraries faculty will describe efforts to preserve and enhance access to the university's scholarly research and institutional record via ScholarsArchive, the university's archive of digital scholarly resources.
    2. Legislative Update
      Senator Frank Morse will provide a preview of what to look forward to in the 2007 legislative session.
    3. Blackboard Update
      Catherine Williams, Enterprise Computing Services Director, will provide a brief update on Blackboard related improvements and a faculty and student survey scheduled for winter 2007.
    4. Executive Committee Election Results
      President Boggess will announce the results of the Executive Committee election.

  4. INFORMATION ITEMS
    1. New Senator Orientation
      The New Senator Orientation will be held January 11. If you are a continuing Senator, but were not able to attend the orientation when you were elected, please contact Vickie Nunnemaker (vickie.nunnemaker@oregonstate.edu) if you would like to attend the upcoming session.
    2. 2007 Faculty Senate Meetings
      Please reserve the following dates for Faculty Senate meetings for the remainder of the academic year; check your monthly agenda to determine the location. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM:
      • 2007 - January 11, February 8, March 8, April 12, May 10, and June 14.
    3. Parking Update
      Beginning about December 1 through August 2007 the visitor parking lot across from LaSells Stewart Center will not have access from 26th St. A new entry into the parking lot will be made from Western Blvd. These changes are related to the Reser Stadium south endzone construction.
