The agenda for the December Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below.
 
  1. ACTION ITEMS
    1. Executive Committee Elections
      See attached biographical sketches. Voting will take place during the meeting by Senators, proxies, and ex-officio members only. Three people will be elected for two-year terms beginning January 2004. Continuing EC members are: Maggie Niess, Science; Susan Shaw, Liberal Arts; and Becky Warner, Liberal Arts.

    2. Category I Proposals
      A Curriculum Council member will present the following Category I proposals for approval:
      1. Eliminate B.S. in Environmental Health & Safety
        Letter to Colleagues
        Letter to Students.

      2. Rename Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences to Department of Clinical Sciences

      3. Sustainable Natural Resources
        Memorandum of Understanding

      4. Rename Apparel, Interiors, Housing and Merchandising to Design and Human Environment (DHE)

      5. Study Abroad Program - Migration Studies in Morelia, Mexico
        Morelia, Mexico Transmittal Sheet
        Morelia, Mexico - Budget

  2. REPORT FROM AND DIALOG WITH THE PROVOST
    Tim White, Provost & Executive Vice President

  3. SPECIAL REPORTS
    1. Faculty Senate Election Results
      President Sorte will report on the outcome of the election for Faculty Senate President-Elect and Interinstitutional Faculty Senate Senator.

  4. INFORMATION ITEMS
    1. New Senator Orientation
      The New Senator Orientation will be held January 8. If you are a continuing Senator, but were not able to attend the orientation when you were elected, please contact the Faculty Senate Office at 737-4344 if you would like to attend the upcoming session.

    2. 1040-Hour Appointments
      Retired Faculty Senators whose terms extend beyond December 31, 2003, and whose 1040-hour appointments terminate fall term, are no longer eligible to serve as a Senator. If you fall into this category, please contact the Faculty Senate Office at 737-4344 so a replacement can be appointed to complete the remainder of your term.
      Faculty whose Senate committee/council terms extend beyond December 31, 2003, and whose 1040-hour appointments terminate fall term, are no longer eligible to continue serving. If you are not filling a specific emeritus/retired position on the committee/council on which you serve, or if you are unsure, please contact the Faculty Senate Office so a determination may be made and/or a replacement identified.

  5. REPORT FROM AND DIALOG WITH THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT
    President Bruce Sorte

  6. NEW BUSINESS

  7. IN ORDER TO PROPERLY RECORD MINUTES OF THE SENATE MEETING,
    ALL SENATORS ARE REMINDED TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AND THEIR
    SENATE AFFILIATION WHEN RISING TO SPEAK.

    the Senate during your term.
