A. ACTION
ITEM
The Board's Administrative Rules define criteria and procedures for the imposition of sanctions for cause, including termination of appointment (OAR 580-21-320 through 580-21-375). If such a sanction is to be imposed, the faculty member is entitled to a formal hearing of charges by a hearing committee to be selected from a faculty panel that has been duly established. Nominees for each new panel are randomly selected. Faculty Panels for Hearing Committees are elected on even numbered years. NOTE: The OSU Legal Officer has determined that Professional Faculty are eligible for election. Ballots will be distributed at the meeting; balloting for ten primary members will be limited to Senators or their official representatives. B. COMMITTTEE REPORT
Henry Sayre, Chair, will discuss the nomination process for Faculty Senate President-Elect and Executive Committee and Interinstitutional Faculty Senators. C. REPORT FROM AND DIALOG WITH THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT
D. SPECIAL REPORT
President-Elect Bruce Sorte will lead a discussion generally outlining the PERS situation and opportunities for comment during this public input period. Key points of a draft resolution being considered by the Executive Committee will be presented for discussion, but will not be voted on in October. The Executive Committee anticipates that the resolution will be presented for approval in November. Senators are requested to read an Oregonian article, review the first two articles in the "Issues and the News" portion of the PERS web page, and suggestions for a resolution to be prepared for an informed discussion.
