A. ACTION ITEM
- Student Evaluation of Teaching Instrument
Ray William, Advancement of Teaching Chair, will present for approval recommendations to change the current
Student Evaluation of Teaching Instrument. The linked attachments include:
changes to the recommendations since the January Senate meeting (indicated
in bold type); the front of the draft form with the "Unable to rate" column on the
right side including additional space separating this column from the
others; the back of the
draft form; and sample
questions that faculty could copy onto the back side. Although the
Executive Committee has not been able to come to a consensus that would
lead to an endorsement of these recommendations, they feel that these
motions should come forward for debate and a vote.
B. DISCUSSION ITEMS
- Post-Tenure Review Implementation Guidelines
Vice Provost Sabah Randhawa, will report on Post-Tenure
Review Implementation Guidelines.
University Assessment Task Force
Bob Burton, Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs, will report on the
status of the newly formed University Assessment Task Force.
- Academic Redesign
Vice President Mark McCambridge, Finance and Administration, will discuss
whether OSU is on track with the '02 budget, provide preliminary thoughts
about the '03 budget and briefly report on the University audit.
Provost Tim White will describe the overall redesign process, vision,
goals, and next steps.
President Nancy Rosenberger will discuss the academic redesign: process,
issues and timeline.

- University Awards
Reminders have been sent to Deans, Directors, and Department Heads/Chairs
containing information for the OSU Distinguished Service Award and the
following awards that will be presented at University Day on September
17, 2002:

A cover letter, guidelines for preparing nomination packets, and criteria

All nomination materials for the above awards must be submitted to the
Faculty Recognition and Awards Committee, c/o Faculty Senate Office,
107 Gilkey Hall, Corvallis OR 97331-6203. Nomination deadlines
for those awards above indicated with an asterisk and the OSU Distinguished
Service Award are March 12, 2002, and April 8, 2002 for the remainder.

their contributions - we depend on you to facilitate nominations
for these awards.
OSU CONNECT 2002 - September 25 through September 29
OSU CONNECT is the second step in Oregon State University's three-step
process in orienting new students to campus. In order to create a coordinated
OSU CONNECT program, proposals are being solicited from departments,
groups and organizations wanting to be part of this exciting event.
A Request For Proposals (RFP) package for new or existing programs,
as well as the CONNECT program draft, are available by contacting Jennifer
Kuzeppa Specter at 737-0582 or jennifer.kuzeppa@orst.edu.
Only programs approved through the RFP process will be included in OSU
CONNECT scheduling and marketing. Thank you for supporting OSU CONNECT.
Joint Meeting
The joint AAUP, AOF, IFS meeting will be held April 27 on the OSU campus
from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the CH2M HILL Alumni Center. The speakers
have not yet been finalized.
Professional Faculty Task Force
Provost White is in the process of convening a Professional Faculty
Task Force to study professional faculty issues. Tony Wilcox will chair
the task force.
- IT Planning Committee
The Faculty Senate Executive Committee strongly endorses the proposal for a campus-wide IT (Information Technology) Planning Committee and
has mandated the Computing Resources Committee to convene a meeting
of the relevant people in order to move forward on implementing the
Committee.
