The agenda for the April Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below. To be approved are the minutes of the February and March Senate meetings, as published and distributed to Senators.
A. ACTION ITEMS

1. Category | Proposal

Len Friedman, Curriculum Council Chair, will present a Category I proposal to rename Extension Home Economics Department to Extension Family and Community Development Department

2. Proposed Bylaws Changes

Maggie Niess, Bylaws and Nominations Chair, will present proposed Bylaws revisions.

3. Proposed Standing Rules Changes

Joe Kerkvliet, Academic Regulations Chair, will present proposed revisions to Academic Regulations 3, 23 and 25

B. DISCUSSION ITEM

1. Distance and Continuing Education

Bill McCaughan, Dean of Distance and Continuing Education, will discuss the current status of distance education at OSU including potential initiatives and possible alternative models for delivery of distance education.

C. COMMITTEE REPORTS

1. Faculty Mediation Committee

Susan Longerbeam, Chair, and Bill Oye, committee member, will explain the mediation process and compare it with the grievance procedures. Information on the grievance and mediation process (OAR 576-050-0010 through 576-050-0055) is available on the web at http://osu.orst.edu/staff/faculty/handbook/griev/sgrievanc.htm. Please note that the term "Faculty Mediator" used on the web refers to the OSU Faculty Mediation Committee.

D. INFORMATION ITEMS

1. IFS, AOF, AAUP Joint Meeting

The joint meeting of IFS, AOF and AAUP will be held Saturday, April 29 in the CH2M HILL Alumni Center. The meeting is scheduled between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM with the formal meeting scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM following a continental breakfast.

2. Fireside Chat

President Paul G. Risser invites Staff and Faculty to share ideas, ask questions, and engage in lively conversation about Oregon State University on Tuesday, April 11, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM in the MU Lounge.

3. Committee Interest Forms

Committee Interest Forms for University and Faculty Senate committees have been distributed and are due back in the Faculty Senate Office April 7. Faculty Senate committee/council members are selected from those who respond to the Committee Interest Form. Please consider volunteering for committees. Standing Rules for each committee can be found at http://osu.orst.edu/dept/senate/comm.htm.
