The agenda for the October Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below. To be approved are the minutes of the May and June Senate meetings, as published and distributed to Senators.
A. INSTALLATION OF PRESIDENT-ELECT

Ken Williamson will be installed President-Elect.

B. SPECIAL REPORT

President Paul Risser
The President will report on the current state of the University and share goals for the academic year.

C. ACTION ITEM

Approval of Assessment of Teaching Task Force Report (pp. 1-19)
ZoeAnn Holmes, Task Force Member, will present the recommendations.

D. DISCUSSION ITEM

Information Services Task Force Recommendations (pp.20-38)
Tony Wilcox, Task Force Chair, will lead a discussion of the report.

E. COMMITTEE REPORT

Nominations and Bylaws Committee
Tony Wilcox, Chair, will discuss the nomination process.

F. INFORMATION ITEMS

1. Faculty Senate Summer Elections
As a result of the recent summer elections, Ken Williamson (Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering) was elected Faculty Senate President-Elect.

2. Faculty Senate Fall Elections
Tony Wilcox, Bylaws and Nominations Chair, is accepting recommendations for 1) President-elect, 2) Executive Committee members, and 3) Interinstitutional Faculty Senate representative. Nominations may be forwarded to him in Exercise & Sport Science or via electronic mail at anthony.wilcox@orst.edu. Deadline for nominations is October 9. NOTE: If Senators wish to make a nomination from the floor at the November meeting, they must have prior approval from the nominee.

3. Faculty Senate Celender
Please reserve the following dates for Faculty Senate meetings. All meetings have been scheduled in the LaSells Stewart Center Construction & Engineering Hall.

November 5, 1998          January 7, 1999          March 4, 1999          May 6, 1999
December 3, 1998         February 4, 1999         April 1, 1999            June 3, 1999

4.      Faculty Senate Committees/Councils  (pp. 39-42)
            
Attached is a membership roster for all Faculty Senate Committees and Councils.

5.      Faculty Senate Reception
            
President and Mrs. Risser are hosting a Faculty Senate reception at their home immediately following the October Faculty Senate meeting; all Senators and ex-officios are invited.
