The agenda for the March Senate meeting will include the reports and other items of business listed below. To be approved are the minutes of the February Senate meeting, as published and distributed to Senators.
A. SPECIAL REPORTS
1. Intercollegiate Athletics
Athletic Director Dutch Baughman, NCAA Institutional Faculty Representative
Bob Frank, and Head Football Coach Mike Riley will report on intercollegiate
athletic issues.
2. Enrollment Projection Process
Bob Bontrager, Director of Admission and Orientation, will outline the process
used to predict student enrollment.
3. Undergraduate Education Council Retention Work Group
Leslie Davis Burns, Director of Undergraduate Academic Programs, will describe
the revised university freshman orientation course for Fall 1997.
4. Alumni College
Sandra Woods, Faculty Associate to the Provost: Extended Education, will
discuss the Alumni College proposal. Note: You will be receiving information
on this proposal in a separate e-mail message from Woods.
B. ACTION ITEMS
1. Alumni College Recommendation
The Curriculum Council forwards the following recommendation:
The term "Alumni College" is to be the name of the OSU initiative to encourage life-long learning among alumni. Further, the use of the term "college" in this instance is distinct from the meaning of "college" for which a Category I proposal is required (has faculty, departments and/or programs, confers degrees, etc.
2. Academic Regulation 27 Proposal (pp. 1)
Nancy Wendt, Academic Regulations Chair, will present a proposal to add a new regulation relating to the Alumni College.
C. INFORMATION ITEMS
1. Senator Representation
According to Article IX, Sec. 2, paragraph 4 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws:
It shall be the responsibility of all members to attend all meetings of the Faculty Senate. When circumstances require the absence of a Senator from one or more meetings, it shall be the Senator's responsibility to provide a substitute to attend who is eligible for election to the Faculty Senate (from the Senators constituency). The substitute shall have the powers, privileges, duties, and responsibilities of the absent Senator and shall be eligible to vote upon all motions coming before the Faculty Senate.

2. Interinstitutional Faculty Senate February Recap
An e-mail version of the Interinstitutional Faculty Senate February recap was sent to all Senators.
3. Committee Interest Forms
Committee interest forms will be distributed after Spring break and will be due back in the Faculty Senate Office in mid-April. Please consider volunteering for committees.
