OSU Public Network Wireless Access

OSU has a wireless network available in many campus buildings including all the residence hall and cooperative house main lounges, plus all three dining facilities. OSU students and staff can use this network via their ONID account. If you are not an OSU student or staff the wireless network has a pay for access option.

Wireless Access Areas

Wireless access to the Public Network is available in the areas below.

  • Residence Hall Main Lounges
  • Cooperative House Lounge Areas
  • West Dining Hall
  • McNary Dining Hall
  • Arnold Dining Hall
  • Campus Wireless Map

Wireless Network Adapter

Using the public network requires an 802.11b or 802.11g compliant wireless adapter. Most newer laptops have wireless adapters built in, but if your laptop does not they can be purchased at the OSU Bookstore.

Configuring Wireless

Once the adapter is installed in your computer, its settings need to be configured for the public network. Each wireless card will have a software application that can be used to configure its settings. See OSU Public Network Help for more info on wireless setup.

Registering Your Computer on the Public Network

Once the network settings are complete, the computer must be registered on the Public Network. Go to one of the areas with wireless access if you have not done so already.

  1. First connect your computer to the OSU_PUB wireless network.
  2. Open your web browser and attempt to access a web site.
  3. You browser will be redirected to the OSU Public Network registration page.
  4. Select the appropriate link to register your computer and follow the directions.
