Update for Windows XP
Microsoft periodically releases security patches for Windows operating systems.
Downloading and installing these updates will help protect your computer
from viruses and threats.
Running Windows Update can only be done after you have registered
your computer. If you haven't registered, please save these steps and complete them after
your computer has been registered. However you can
install Service Pack 2 for Windows XP now.
Installing Critical Updates
- Open Internet Explorer » Select Tools (from the menu at the top) » Select Windows Update.
Or, go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
If a "Security Warning" or a prompt to install software appears, confirm it is from Microsoft, and then click "Yes."
- Click the button titled Express.
- Wait briefly while the site scans your computer to see what updates are needed.
- At the next screen, click the Install Updates button.
- Any needed high-priority updates will be downloaded and installed.
If you are prompted to restart after the updates have been installed, do so.
