Your computer will need an Ethernet network adapter and Ethernet cable. Most new computers come with Ethernet adapters, but you may need to purchase an Ethernet cable. A phone cable will not work. The OSU Bookstore sells Ethernet adapters and cables if your computer does not come with one.
Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Think about what you are going to use it for, how much money you want to spend, and if you want to upgrade it in the future.
Laptops are usually more expensive and cost more to upgrade, but offer mobility, take up less space, and students can also access the wireless network in the Library, Dining Halls, other public locations around campus using the OSU Public Network.
Desktop computers take up more space, but are generally less expensive, faster, and cheaper to upgrade and maintain.
Almost any computer can connect to ResNet, but faster or better than listed below is suggested.
