Description:
 The invention describes active agents which are coated with a rate-release polymer and a hydrophilic gel-forming material which forms a gel upon hydration. If the polymeric coating is damaged, the hydrophilic material gels upon exposure to an aqueous environment.
Applications:
 Pharmaceutical and other preparations where flow, compressibility, and controlled release are important.
