IACUC Guideline:

ACUPs with No Further Animal Activity

Once the animal research ends, the ACUP should be closed. IACUC oversight ends even if there are additional non-animal activities on the study (e.g. data analysis). Any remaining animals should be transferred off the study and all personnel should understand the “closed” status to prevent a research associate from attempting to order animals and so that animal care personnel are also aware of the status.¹
