Animal Care and Use Proposal (ACUP)

POLICY: Any use of vertebrate animals in research, teaching, or testing, regardless of funding source or status, must be reviewed and approved by the OSU-IACUC prior to starting animal use. When a request for external funding has been made, the Principal Investigator has the option of waiting to submit the ACUP until it appears that funding is likely. It is the principal investigator's responsibility to submit the ACUP with sufficient time to allow for an appropriate review. The IACUC will not be responsible for expediting ACUP reviews, and all proposals will be reviewed according to the standard operating procedure, which requires three to six weeks for uncomplicated reviews. The IACUC reserves the right to require an ACUP review at the time a request for external funding is made.
