The Research Office, Office for Research Development is requesting letters of nomination for the Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program.
Deadline for letters of nomination to the Research Office: Monday, March 17, 2014
The Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program supports the research and teaching careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences at undergraduate institutions. The award is based on accomplishment in scholarly research with undergraduates, as well as a compelling commitment to teaching.
The foundation seeks Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholars who, as independent faculty members, have demonstrated leadership in original scholarly research of outstanding quality, substantially with undergraduates, as well as excellence and dedication in undergraduate education.
Nominees must hold a full-time tenure-track academic appointment, be after the fourth and not after the twelfth years of their independent academic careers, and be engaged in research and teaching primarily with undergraduates.
One candidate will be selected from the letters of nomination to represent Oregon State University. In an effort to provide the highest level of excellence and viability for funding, a review process will be put in place if more than one letter of nomination is submitted.
The criteria for the nomination letter are as follows:
- The nomination letter should provide concrete examples not only of the nominee’s research and teaching accomplishments, but also of meaningful contributions to advancing the education of undergraduate students. The nomination letter is expected to provide palpable evidence of significant activities that enhance student learning beyond this minimum and of dedication to education in the chemical sciences.
