The Incentive Funds Program in the Research Office is requesting Letters of Intent for the National Science Foundation – Academic Research Infrastructure Program: Recovery and Reinvestment (ARI-R2) program.

Research Office Letter of Intent submission deadline: Friday, May 29, 2009 (5:00 PM)

NSF Letter of Intent Due Date (required):
            July 1, 2009

NSF Full Proposal Deadline:
August 24, 2009

Information:  Debbie Delmore at debbie.delmore@oregonstate.edu or 737-8390

The program limits to one (1) the number of proposals, either as lead or as a sub-awardee, but not both that can be submitted by Oregon State University.

In an effort to provide the highest level of excellence and viability for funding, the Faculty Senate Research Council will review all Letters of Intent and rank order them for the Vice President for Research. The finalist will be asked to represent Oregon State University and to submit their proposal to the NSF-ARI-R2 program.

The purpose of the Academic Research Infrastructure Program: Recovery and Reinvestment (ARI-R2) program is to enhance the Nation’s existing research facilities so that they provide next-generation research infrastructure and facilitate the integration of researchers with shared resources such as remote instruments and research platforms, data repositories, and national computing facilities.

The intent of this program is to revitalize existing research facilities. Funding will be limited to facilities where research and research training activities focus on NSF-supported fields of science and engineering.  ARI-R2 provides support for improvement to physical space, the mechanical systems of buildings and fixed equipment that is built into and generic to the research facility, not free-standing equipment.

Guidance for preparation of Letters of Intent to the Research Office:

  • Title of Project
  • PI/Co-PI
  • Describe the proposed renovation of the existing research facility, the type of research and research training currently conducted in the facility, and the activities that would result if NSF were to fund the project.
  • Budget information.
  • Be limited to three (3) pages.
  • Be submitted electronically as a MS Word or PDF document to: debbie.delmore@oregonstate.edu
