NSF Full Proposal Deadline(s) (due by 5 p.m. proposer’s local time):

November 15, 2006 – (approximately November 2007)

The Incentive Funds Program in the Research Office is requesting Letters of Intent for the National Science Foundation – Active Nanostructures and Nanosystems (NSF-ANN) program.

Research Office Letter of Intent submission deadline: Monday, October 1, 2007

Information: Debbie Delmore at debbie.delmore@oregonstate.edu or 737-8390

The NSF-ANN program limits to two (2) for NIRT and two (2) for NER the number of proposals that can be submitted by Oregon State University. In an effort to provide the highest level of excellence and viability for funding, the Faculty Senate Research Council will review all Letters of Intent and rank order them for the Vice President of Research. The finalists will be asked to represent Oregon State University and to submit their proposals to the NSF-ANN program.

The goal of this program is to support fundamental research and catalyze synergistic science and engineering research and education in several emerging areas of nanoscale science and engineering, including:

  • Active nanostructures;
  • Nanosystems with improved functionality and new architectures;
  • Hierarchical nanomanufacturing; and
  • Long-term societal and educational implications of scientific and technological advances on the nanoscale.

This solicitation provides support for Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Teams (NIRT) and Nanoscale Exploratory Research (NER).

Guidance for preparation of Letter of Intent to the Research Office:

  • Title of Project
  • PI/Co-PI
  • Describe the proposed project in sufficient detail to demonstrative the concept both meets the criteria of the ANN program, but also is likely to be funded by NSF.
  • Letters of Intent are limited to two (2) pages.
  • Approval signatures are not required for this Letter of Intent process.
  • Be submitted electronically as a Word document to: debbie.delmore@oregonstate.edu
