The stimulus legislation — the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 — is focused on rebuilding America’s economy. Oregon State University is using competitive ARRA grant funds to strengthen its research enterprise, create jobs, train students and develop innovative technologies.
From this site, you will find federal agency resources and a report on OSU projects receiving ARRA support. These funds boost the economy through direct employment, facilities construction and purchases of supplies and materials.

Research Leads to Innovation
As Oregon’s land grant university, OSU received $252 million in research grants and contracts in 2009, more than that received by all other Oregon public universities combined. OSU leverages this and the continuing investment of ARRA funds to meet business and community needs. From transparent semiconductors to wave energy, non-toxic wood adhesives and home-based kidney dialysis, OSU technologies change lives and build businesses. They underscore OSU’s $1.5 billion economic footprint in Oregon.
ARRA funds help OSU train the next generation of scientists and engineers. Combining technical skills with entrepreneurship and a sustainable ethic, OSU graduates start new businesses and help existing ones compete in a rapidly changing marketplace. We invite you to read more about how OSU is applying ARRA funds to stimulate the economy.

Congress Made the Difference
The university would like to acknowledge the support of our federal delegation in securing these funds. The stimulus funding will enhance our knowledge of key science and health issues for the state, nation and world.
