Office of the Registrar

Priority Registration

Priority registration takes place in two phases and is based on a student’s credits (earned plus in-progress).

Phase 1

Undergraduate students can register for a maximum of 16 credits. Phase 1 begins the seventh week of the term. Priority times are scheduled every hour but will not be set during class meeting times.

Each time block will have a minimum number of credits defined for it (earned plus in-progress). Students who meet that minimum can register in that time block or any later time.

Priority for students with disabilities is unchanged. Graduate, professional, and postbaccalaureate students will be able to register at the beginning of the priority. Athletes are divided into two groups, and then included in the first fifteen priority time slots to accommodate their special scheduling needs.

Phase 2

Undergraduate students can register for a maximum of 19 credits and can wait list up to three courses. Wait listing is available in Phase 2 only on those courses designated by the departments. Following Phase 2, registration will open to all students including nondegree and incoming students.

Transfer Credits

It is very important that students submit official transcripts for credits earned at other institutions. The transcripts must be received by the Office of Admissions no later than one month prior to the start of priority registration. Students whose credit from other institutions has already been accepted by OSU do not need to request another transcript.
