Make a commitment to use a condom every time; you can get an STI or get pregnant by having unprotected sex just once
We teach individuals or groups to care for injuries and emergencies until medical care help arrives. We can also help you assess and implement procedures to help insure your work environment and campus community are safe. Attend a class at our facility or well come to yours.
There are three ways to get safety training:
Sign up for an existing group program at RecSports. Current class schedules are available on the RecSports web site. Fees include instruction, use of reference materials and certification. Classes fill fast so register early!
If you cannot attend a programmed class or if you wish to challenge a course, sign up to work independently with an instructor to get your certification. These classes are held in the Safety Resource Area inside Dixon Recreation Center and are offered every weekday.
If you would like your group or department trained, we can come to your location at a time and day that works best for you. Safety Programs also provides assistance in Emergency Response Plan Formulation, First Aid Kit development, and First Aid Response Teams for special events. We work with groups of as few as five participants. Ask us about designing a special contract to suit your needs. Contact the safety coordinator.
Those whose skills and knowledge are test ready may challenge a class in a private lesson. Safety challenge participants will only have one opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.
These classes are designed for the participant who is currently certified, or has a certification with an expiration date within the last 12 months (proof required).
All classes are taught by certified American Red Cross Instructors. Register at the RecServices desk inside the west entry of Dixon Recreation Center.
