Sport Club Supervisor
Responsibilities: The Sport Club Supervisor is responsible for providing direction to clubs and participants including advising clubs with fundraising, event planning and traveling and being informative about standard policies and procedures.
Intramural Sports Coordinating Supervisor
Responsibilities: The Intramural Sports Coordinating Supervisor is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of various intramural sport events including marketing, scheduling and facilitating team and individual events.
Preferred Experience: Previous employment with the OSU Department of Recreational Sports as an Intramural Sport Supervisor.
Recreational Sports Office Manager
Responsibilities: The Recreational Sports Office Manager is responsible for supervising and ensuring completion of all Recreational Sports Office Assistant tasks.
Preferred Experience: Previous employment with the OSU Department of Recreational Sports in the Sport Club and Intramural Sports program.
Intramural Sports Supervisor
Responsibilities: The Intramural Sports Supervisor is responsible for providing a safe and inclusive environment for all participants while on duty. Supervisors are accountable for providing clear direction to officials, teams and participants and being informative about standard operating policies and procedures.
Responsibilities: Students on the team will help plan, organize and execute special events. The Events Team will work closely with the Marketing Team.
Lead Supervisors (Route Manager, Rental Manager, Equipment/Facility Manager and Payroll/Scheduling Manager)
Responsibilities: Assist the ICC Coordinator in various capacities of operating the Indoor Climbing Facility.
Preferred Experience: Advanced technical skills in rock climbing. Leading and instructing groups of peers and customers of 2 – 16.
Floor Staff
Responsibilities: The Floor Staff of the Indoor Climbing Center is responsible for the supervision of open recreation of the indoor climbing center and for instructing a variety of rock climbing skill workshops and orientation/safety clinics.
Preferred Experience: Exhibit an aptitude of technical skills and the instruction of technical skills. Knowledge and experience in belay systems and climbing techniques.
Trip Leader
Responsibilities: A Trip Leader is confident and efficient in teaching the trip skill set. They are confident in trip management and facilitation of small group dynamics. Leaders are well practiced and familiar in teaching the trip skill set and have a general understanding of trip management.
Preferred Experience: Previous customer service and adventure recreation (outdoor pursuits) experience.
RecServices Staff
Responsibilities: The RecServices Staff is responsible scheduling/registration for the HFC, Trips/programs, Fitness and Safety classes. Employees also work closely with Intramurals and Sport Clubs to provide registration and information to participants.
Safety Programs Support Supervisor
Responsibilities: The Safety Programs Supervisor is responsible for the overall program and coordinator support of the Safety Programs at the Department of Recreational Sports.
Preferred Experience: Instructor level certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED Program, CPR-AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training, and Blood Borne Pathogens preferred.
Safety Programs Instructor
Responsibilities: The Safety Programs Instructor is responsible for providing services in which the campus community and the Department of Recreational Sports staff can learn basic safety and emergency response care.
Preferred Experience: Instructor level certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED Program, CPR-AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training, and Blood Borne Pathogens preferred.
Sports Clubs/Special Events Staff
Responsibilities: The Sports Safety Staff is responsible for supporting the Sport Club Program by providing emergency response and care for all OSU hosted Sport Club and Special Events.
Recreational Sports Center Manager
Responsibilities: The Recreation Center Manager is responsible for the overall supervision of the facilities, participants, programs, and staff for the Department of Recreational Sports. Recreation Center Managers work as paraprofessional staff, assuming managerial responsibility for the Department of Recreational Sports facilities and programs during non-business (8am-5pm Monday through Friday) hours.
Preferred Experience: Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience and previous employment with the RecSports as an Operations Supervisor.
Recreational Sports Operations Supervisor
Responsibilities: The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the facilities, participants, programs, and staff for the Department of Recreational Sports. Operations Supervisors have managerial responsibility for the Department of Recreational Sports facilities and programs during business hours when administrative staff are on duty.
Preferred Experience: Previous supervisory or leadership experience and previous employment with the RecSports in the area of Operations.
Recreational Sports Operations Staff
Responsibilities: Operations Staff is responsible for the entry system, operating the service counters, issuing equipment and handling laundry service at RecSports facilities. This position also serves as the primary source of information for walk-in and phone participants.
Preferred Experience: Previous customer service experience and previous cash handling experience.
ORC Manager
Responsibilities: The ORC Manager is responsible for the overall supervision of the adventure recreation facilities, participants, programs, and staff for the Department of Recreational Sports.
Preferred Experience: Previous supervisory or leadership experience, outdoor pursuits experience and experience with outdoor equipment care and service.
ORC Operations Staff
Responsibilities: The Operations Staff is responsible for operating the service counters and resource area, issuing outdoor rental equipment, equipment maintenance and preparation, activity registration and clearinghouse for trail/destination resources.
Preferred Experience: Previous customer service, cash handling and adventure recreation (outdoor pursuits) experience.
ORC Bike Mechanic and Ski Technician
Responsibilities: The Bike Mechanic and Ski Technician is responsible for operating the bike/ski shop, tool/supply maintenance and inventory, providing repair/maintenance support to participant, and instruction.
Preferred Experience: Previous customer service, cash handling and bike or ski maintenance experience.
Facilitator
Responsibilities: Facilitator is responsible for setting up, planning and safely guiding multiple participants through a series of programmed Challenge Course elements to achieve their desired outcomes by way of experiential learning in a professional manner.
Preferred Experience: Must attend and receive certificate of completion from OSU Challenge Course Instructor Training.
Administrative Assistant
Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting in the administration of office related tasks associated with the OSU Challenge Course program.
Preferred Experience: Previous customer service experience related to outdoor recreation/experiential education.
Maintenance Student Employee
Responsibilities: Maintenance staff are responsible for equipment maintenance, repairs of equipment and helping out with general building maintenance.
Aquatics Supervisor
Responsibilities: The Aquatic Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the lead guards, assists with the operations associated with the filtration and chemical control systems, and the general maintenance of the aquatic facility.
Preferred Experience: Previous lifeguard and supervisory experience. Previous pool operations experience, including technical/mechanical knowledge. Demonstrated risk management experience and knowledge of hazardous chemical usage and safety.
Lead Guard
Responsibilities: The Lead Guard is responsible for supporting the supervision of lifeguards, to ensure a safe environment and efficient aquatic program for all users and has facility opening and closing responsibilities during early morning, late night, and weekend hours.
Preferred Experience: Previous lifeguard and supervisory experience. Previous pool operations experience, including technical/mechanical knowledge. Demonstrated risk management experience and knowledge of hazardous chemical usage and safety.
Lifeguard
Responsibilities: The Lifeguard is responsible for the daily assurance of a safe environment for the participants, programs, and staff.
Preferred Experience: Previous lifeguard experience a plus but not necessary. Lifeguard Training Certification required.
Marketing Team
Responsibilities: Students on the team will work together to market the programs and services offered by the Department of Recreational Sports. The marketing team will work closely with the events team.
Graphic Designer
Responsibilities: Designers will be responsible for a wide variety of materials related to RecSports programs and services.
Supervisor (Safe Return Personal Trainer Supervisor, Personal Trainer Supervisor)
Responsibilities: The Personal Training Staff are responsible for maintaining personal training resources for clients, mentoring and conducting auditions for shadow trainers and assist in teaching the practical portion of the F.I.T. and SRPT classes.
Preferred Experience: PT and SRPT certifications; FIT class and SRPT class completion. SRPT must have min. of two terms of base training experience.
Personal Trainer and Personal Trainer Assistant
Responsibilities: The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing quality, 1 on 1 instruction and consultations for clients.
Preferred Experience: PT certification from FIT class – PT track &/or certification agency (ACSM, NSCA) and able to pass full audition.
Group Exercise Instructor and Assistant Instructor
Responsibilities: The Group X Instructor and Assistant Instructors are responsible for providing quality instruction to all Group X and Fitness class participants.
Preferred Experience: Must have certification from FIT class- GX track and/or certification from an accredited certification (i.e. ACE, ACSM, AFAA).
Fit Technician Supervisor and Fit Technician
Responsibilities: The Fit Technician is responsible for assisting with fitness programs, assisting participants with proper technique on weight equipment and maintaining equipment in the group exercise rooms.
Preferred Experience: Fit Technician Supervisor requires a minimum of one year as a Fit Technician.
