Healthy Living Tips

Fuel your body. Good nutrition will fortify your body , while over-eating, skipping meals, or eating "junk" food may deplete your body of essential nutrients that keep you healthy.  

Health and Fitness Connection

You benefit from the collective expertise of Student Health Services and Recreational Sports in one visit. Consult with our staff about nutrition , personalized physical activity, recovery from injury, or a general plan for health. We also offer massage therapy, physical therapy, health coaching and sports medicine services.

COMPREHENSIVE FITNESS EVALUATION

Available to students, staff, faculty and affiliates.

Fitness staff will assist you in designing a program consistent with American College of Sports Medicine protocol. To reach your goals, individualized recommendations are based on testing components which can include: cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

HEALTH COACHING

Available to students only.

Get one-on-one health coaching. Students meet with a health educator to develop an individualized plan to improve one area of their life. Topics can include: stress/time management, financial management, healthy eating, physical activity, relationship issues, alcohol and other drugs, sexual health and other issues. NUTRITION

Available to students only. First two visits are free!

The Nutritionist can assess and prescribe dietary plans appropriate to specific needs. Find answers to general nutrition questions or learn how nutrition can contribute to your academic success. Contact: (541)737-7556

BEAVER STRIDES

Available to students, staff, faculty & affiliates.

Beaver Strides is a self-directed physical activity program. This program uses pedometers (step counters) and other incentives to motivate participants to get their move on throughout the day. Contact: (541)737-7556

1 ON 1 FITNESS PROGRAMMING

Available to students, staff, faculty & affiliates.

Trained fitness professionals personalize fitness programs to match individual needs. Depending on individual goals, a program may include free weights, weight machines, cardiovascular machines, plyometrics, physioballs, or functional training. Contact: (541)737-3736

 

SAFE RETURN PERSONAL TRAINING

Available to students, staff, faculty & affiliates.

Safe Return Personal Trainers (SRPT) work to provide post-rehabilitation and post-injury exercise programs designed to restore full function to individuals with injuries in conjunction with the physical therapist or athletic trainer. Contact: (541)737-7556

ATHLETIC TRAINING

Available to students, staff, faculty & affiliates.

A certified athletic trainer provides services for injury prevention, injury evaluation, injury treatment, injury rehabilitation and reconditioning. Contact: (541)737-7556

MASSAGE THERAPY

Available to students, staff and faculty only.

Certified massage therapists are available days and evenings. Massage is useful in: sports rehabilitation, relieving fatigue and tension, improving circulation, relaxation and providing increased mobility. Contact: (541)737-7556

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Available to students, staff and faculty only.

Comprehensive physical therapy services provide rehabilitation and reconditioning for musculo-skeleton conditions. Prevention programs for sport-related injuries are provided, along with recovery programs for orthopedic injuries. Contact: (541)737-7556

SPORTS MEDICINE

Available to students only.

Sports medicine provides services for students who sustain physical injury. Sports Medicine services may be supplemented by physical therapy services and Safe Return Personal Training. Contact: (541)737-7556
