All Group Fitness Classes are FREE the first week of every term.

FREE; no appointment necessary; Stop by the Fit services desk in Weight room #1 or Rec Services desk and ask(radio) for a Fitness Specialist. (on duty from 7am-10pm Monday-Friday, 10-2 Sat and 3pm-10pm Sun. Break hours will vary)
1.5 hour visit; this session is to help you get your fitness routine started with the help from our Fitness Specialist. This intro session will give you the tools you need to get the most out of your workouts. This session includes:
1.Evaluating YOUR goals
2.Proper use of the equipment or exercise most appropriate for you.
3.Orientation to the facility and all fitness services
4.Creating a well balanced fitness routine individualized to YOUR needs.
All sessions expire at the end of the school year.
To participate in a Fit Pass class, members must purchase a Fit Pass at RecServices. With your Fit Pass you can go to any of the fitness classes offered during that term. Times, days of the week and locations are listed in the term schedule and on the web. Fit Passes are non-refundable.
Learn rhythms and dances from Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. Explore contemporary Raks Sharki choreography and musical interpretation. Cultivate posture, balance and grace and enjoy the benefits of a low impact, aerobic, full-body workout. Get fit and express yourself through beautiful and ancient dance movements.
Get yourself ready for the dance floor! Hip Hop teaches participants dance moves to funky music. Choreography is broken down so that even beginners can learn.
Cycling class for all skill levels. This class offers the cycling enthusiast the opportunity to ride for 1.5 hours on an instructed endurance ride.
One-hour ride to cross-train, prepare for a competitive event or for the individual who just wants a great cardio-conditioning workout. Instructors will lead you through a variety of rides teaching cycling terms, safe cycling protocol, and having fun to great music.
One hour and 30 minute combo class. Cardio conditioning followed by a sculpting/core workout using various methods. For those individuals who are short on time and want to complete their workout efficiently!
Cardio conditioning workout with upper and lower body kickboxing moves. Instructor mixes it up each session with various combinations, boxing circuits & intervals. High energy, fast paced class using kick bags and focus mitts.
This class is for those individuals who need strengthening, toning, increased flexibility, and the ability to decrease their stress in a calm, relaxing environment. Led by a certified Pilates instructor. Great mat work class!
The practice of Hatha Yoga will be explored through this energetic, joyful, and relaxing experience. All levels are welcome! Cultivate increased flexibility, strength, endurance, balance, and peace of mind, body and heart.
Add to your cardio routine; sculpt, shape, and tone using your body, thera-bands, hand weights, and balls for resistance.
Work the “core” of your body including abs, low back, and the entire mid-section. The use of all types of equipment as well as great music make this 30-minute class sail by quickly.
Circuit Training:
A class for the individual who wants to increase muscular endurance, incorporate resistance exercise into their workout, & learn appropriate lifting technique & form. Warm up, stretching, 8 to 15 weight stations targeting major muscle groups of the body, and a cool down at the end.
Class is led by an instructor in a progressive format over a 10 week term.
These new classes target beginner to advanced fitness levels by implementing “functional” training tools (i.e. plyometrics, core strength, stability, posture, explosive agility drills) to increase functional strength and endurance for daily living.
Designed for beginners to learn the basics of Judo as well as continuous training for those with a Judo background. Throwing and groundwork techniques will be taught and practiced.
Total Body Conditioning:
A class designed to increase muscular strength and endurance while shaping and defining your body. Various mediums are used beyond the typical weight machine.
A non-impact workout in the deep-well pool providing a great cardio workout through water jogging and cardio moves combined with sculpting exercises. You will feel your heart rate elevate, your muscles fatigue while having fun in the water!

Fitness Instructor Training (FIT) Want to become a fitness instructor at Dixon Rec Center and build your resume? This class will prepare you to instruct Cycling, Water Fitness, and Group Exercise (GX) - (i.e. step, kickboxing, sculpt). OSU freshman are qualified to take the group exercise track.
You can also become a Fitness Specialist (ACSM protocol), with a prerequisite of EXSS sophomore academic status and have passed Anatomy 341.
