Intramural Sports

intramurals

The emphasis of Intramural Sports is on participation and fun. There are over 35 leagues and tournaments are offered during the academic year to play and compete with others on campus. Intramural Sports is a great outlet to socialize, de-stress, learn new sports and get physically fit. Intramural Sports are open to all students and RecSports members.

Form / Join a Team

Assemble a team of your own or connect with others through our free agent round-up. The free agent round-up is an opportunity for participants who do not have a team or team managers that need a few extra players to meet others and form teams in order for everyone to participate.

Officials

The success of the Intramural Sports Program relies heavily on the services of student officials and supervisors.  Each year over two hundred students are employed to carry out these important functions.  Any currently enrolled Oregon State University student with an interest and background in any of the team sports offered by the Intramural Sports Program is encouraged to apply for these positions.  Previous experience as an official is not required.

The Sports and Special Programs Staff conduct training clinics at the beginning of each term to teach the necessary skills.  Students may also participate on a team if they work as an official or supervisor.  A more active role, such as officiating or supervising often enhances the enjoyment of a sport.  It also provides income.  For additional information and details about officiating clinics, contact the Sport Special Programs Office.

USA Flag Rugby

USA Rugby is proud to offer Intramural Flag Rugby as the non-contact game and starting point in our nation’s Rugby for All development pathway.

Rugby originated almost 200 years ago and today it is played by over 5 million people in 120 countries across 6 continents! This Olympic sport has been taking the United States by storm, involving kids of all ages in schools, after-school programs, community organizations, and leagues.

Intramural Flag Rugby is designed with the American athlete in mind. It is a fun, safe, team game that develops a range of ball  handling, running and evasion skills. Participants learn the importance of teamwork and respect for opponents, coaches and referees, which are key elements of all athletic endeavors.

The sport of rugby is simple to understand, organize, and teach. USA Rugby has created many tools to help explain the skills, rules and values associated with this special game. Whether you are a former player, long time supporter or new to the game, you too, can be a part of INTRAMURAL FLAG RUGBY!

All you have to do is PICK UP THE BALL AND RUN WITH IT!
