Loren DavisLoren G. Davis, Ph.D. — PSAL Executive Director

Dr. Davis received his Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Alberta in 2001, where he completed a program of study focusing on anthropological archaeology and Quaternary geology. Davis has directed numerous archaeological surveys and excavations throughout western North America since 1997 and is a nationally- and internationally-recognized practitioner of geoarchaeology. Davis served as past Chair of the Geological Society of America’s Archaeological Geology Division and a past Co-Organizer of the Society for American Archaeology’s Geoarchaeology Interest Group and currently serves as a Review Editor for Geoarchaeology: An International Journal. Dr. Davis is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Oregon State University.

 

 

Alex NyersAlex J. Nyers, M.A. — PSAL Faculty Research Assistant

Mr. Nyers received his Masters in Applied Anthropology from Oregon State University in 2013, successfully defending his thesis entitled, “A Provenance Study of Crypto-Crystalline Silicates at the Cooper's Ferry Site: A Geochemical Approach.” Mr. Nyers brings his considerable technical expertise to PSAL, including information technologies, instrumental methods (e.g., portable x-ray fluorescence, instrumental neutron activation analysis), and digital methods (e.g., 3D scanning, printing and analytical approaches).
