Completed applications consist of items 1, 2, and 3.

1) Materials from Applicant:
Information in some format (e.g., letter, essay, project, web page) about one or two areas of academic interest or excitement, either in or out of school.
Include:

• Information about the interest
• How and/or where this interest started
• What you are currently doing to pursue the interest
2) Letter from parent or guardian:
a) Approving the applicant's participation in Outside the Box
b) Describing characteristics the applicant displays that indicate superior ability(ies) (e.g., intellectual curiosity, creativity, verbal facility, persistence, self-motivation, independence.)
c) Telling why you feel Outside the Box is appropriate for the applicant.

The information you submit assists the staff in designing instruction and activities to meet the needs of program participants. The most beneficial materials are thoughtful, complete, and designed to help the program staff gain insight into applicants' interests, strengths, and needs.
3) Completed Personal Data Form


Notification of acceptance to Outside the Box and the course packet will be mailed in April to the email address provided on the Personal Data Form. Students then select courses in which they wish to participate. These selections must be returned with a nonrefundable $100 deposit by April 21, 2008. The balance is due July 1, 2008.
