When Portland fans make their way down to Corvallis this football season, they’ll notice something new and shiny on the corner of Washington and 26th Streets, just in front of Reser Stadium: the brand new OSU Beaver Store.
The store has moved out of its previous location inside the Memorial Union to a new building with almost double the floor space.
According to president and CEO Steve Eckrich, the OSU Beaver Store has existed on campus in one way or another since 1914, and for as long as Eckrich can remember, the store has been doing its best to give back to the Oregon State community.
The store, an independent nonprofit, gives a 10 percent discount on course materials and textbooks to Oregon State students. The costs are subsidized by sales of licensed Oregon State merchandise and other products available at the OSU Beaver Store.
“We have coined the phrase ‘Back to Beavs’ as a shorthand way of explaining how by shopping at the OSU Beaver Store customers are truly giving back to their fellow Beavers,” Eckrich says.
He says game-day visitors to the new store will first notice the convenience of the store location followed by the ease of the shopping experience.
“We have doubled the square-footage allocated to logo merchandise,” Eckrich says. “The selection is dramatically improved. I won’t say that it won’t be crowded on game day, but it certainly will be able to accommodate a lot more folks and get them in and out more quickly if they are headed over to the game.”
The store held its grand opening on Sept. 21. For more information visit the OSU Beaver Store’s website (http://osubeaverstore.com/) and be sure to use the 10 percent coupon in this Beaver Nation PDX newsletter when you visit.
